One of the things we are asked the most by email and on social media is how to deal with a stubble beard, if there are products for growing stubble, and what to do in general. Burnt Whiskey experts have already researched a lot on this subject and in this post, you will learn how to deal with your failed beard.
First, it’s important to remember that beard growth is genetically related and some people may need a little extra help. But let’s take it easy, we’ll get to this subject later on.
Patience is the word of the day
We know that waiting for your beard to grow is a game of patience. In addition to there being variations in growth time from person to person, your own beard hairs also grow at different times. Some areas can grow in a week and others take almost an entire month. But don’t worry, this is normal!
And what can you do about it? Let it grow! Don’t keep trimming your beard every time it reaches a certain length, just because you think the missing parts won’t grow either. Wait longer, be patient, and give your hair time to grow and cover these gaps.
But what about hormones?
Hormones are a fundamental part of growing your beard. This is why beards grow faster for some people and slower for others. The hormones that control hair and hair are called androgens. They are also responsible for controlling the growth of beard hair and making it thick and colored. If it weren’t for these hormones, your beard hair would look like the hair on your arm that is fine and almost colorless.
This hormone thickens and enlarges your hair follicles, also giving them a darker color. In men, this hormone is called testosterone, as men only produce one type of androgen. According to an article, testosterone is responsible for a lot in the body: it regulates muscle mass, stimulates red blood cell production, and also makes your facial hair strong and healthy.
So if you suffer from a failed beard, you need to look for ways to stimulate the production of this hormone in your body. And it’s not as difficult as it looks. We’ll show you how in the next topics.
Routine physical exercises
The most common way to increase testosterone is to exercise regularly. A 1989 study tested two groups of men, the first group around 20 years of age and the second group 60 years of age. Both groups showed increased testosterone after a physical exercise routine. The 20-year-old group had an even more significant increase.
So you already know, exercising regularly increases your testosterone production and this helps your beard grow. Create an exercise routine, which in addition to being good for your beard, will do a lot of good for your physical and mental health.
And speaking of mental health
Stress is something that can greatly affect the growth of your facial hair. When you’re stressed, your brain sends a message to your body that something is wrong and your kidneys start releasing cortisol into your bloodstream. Cortisol is responsible for the fight-or-flight response triggered by fear. But why is it so important in beard growth?
Cortisol and testosterone work in reverse, when one increases, the other decreases. So, if you get too stressed, your body produces more cortisol, decreasing your testosterone production. And what can you do to reduce stress?
You can start practicing meditation, doing physical exercises as we talked about earlier and doing things that give you pleasure and happiness. Watch comedy movies, chat with friends, read funny things, laughter can significantly decrease cortisol production.
Did you know that it is during sleep that we produce hormones? And it’s not just the amount of sleep that will influence this. It’s the quality of sleep that will have an impact on your hormone production. Longer, deeper sleep cycles release more hormones.
So sleep well, and turn off your screens (cell phone, TV, computer) at least an hour before bed, to calm down and get a good night’s sleep. Create a routine that works for you. And no staying up late playing video games or marathon series if you need to wake up early the next day. At least don’t do it often right!?
Even if your beard is still short and growing, it’s important to have a beard care routine. Another product that helps a lot in the healthy growth of wires is the Exfoliating Paste. In addition to cleansing your skin, it helps to open up your skin pores, keeping the path clear for hair growth.
It also helps to reduce acne, makes the skin smoother, fights skin aging and when you use it frequently (3 times a week) it also helps to reduce ingrown hairs.
